Crispy and Delicious Air Fryer Calzones: The Ultimate Handheld Meal
Ingredients
- 3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 pound cooked chicken ham
- 1/2 pound turkey bacon
- 1 cup diced bell peppers
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
1. Combine the all-purpose flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast in a large mixing bowl.
2. Add the warm water and olive oil, and stir until a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
5. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing together the shredded mozzarella, cooked chicken ham, turkey bacon, diced bell peppers, sliced mushrooms, garlic powder, and dried oregano.
6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles.
7. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each one into a 6-inch circle on a floured surface.
8. Place a generous spoonful of the filling mixture onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a border around the edges.
9. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges firmly to seal.
10. Crimp the edges with a fork to ensure a secure closure.
11. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F for 5 minutes.
12. Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
13. Carefully place the calzones in the basket, making sure they are not touching.
14. Air fry the calzones for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Notes
