Ingredients
- 12 ounce mozzarella string cheese, cut into halves
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray
Instructions
1. Freeze the mozzarella sticks for at least 1 hour to help them maintain their shape during cooking.
2. Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for panko breadcrumbs mixed with salt and pepper.
3. Dip each mozzarella stick half in the flour, then in the eggs, and finally in the panko breadcrumbs, ensuring they are fully coated.
4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F and lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
5. Arrange the coated mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they do not touch.
6. Cook for 6 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the breading is golden brown and crispy.
7. Serve hot with your favorite marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
For extra crunch, consider double coating the mozzarella sticks by repeating the flour, egg, and breadcrumb process.
