Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (plus more for topping)
- 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 unbaked 9-inch deep-dish pie crust
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat. Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
3. Stir in the ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, and half of the crumbled bacon. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove the mixture from the heat.
4. Place the unbaked pie crust in a deep-dish pie pan. Spoon the beef mixture evenly into the crust.
5. Sprinkle the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the beef filling.
6. In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and flour until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly over the pie filling.
7. Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the center is set and the crust is golden brown.
8. Allow the pie to cool slightly before slicing. Sprinkle the remaining crumbled bacon over the top and serve warm.
Notes
For the best flavor and texture in your Bacon Cheeseburger Pie, opt for ground beef with a fat content of 80/20. The higher fat content will help keep the filling juicy and flavorful.
While the combination of cheddar and mozzarella cheeses works wonderfully, feel free to experiment with other types of cheese, such as pepper jack or Colby, to suit your personal preferences.
