Description

There’s nothing quite like the comforting, cheesy goodness of a perfectly baked ziti. This Italian-inspired dish combines tender ziti pasta, savory Italian sausage, and a trio of melty cheeses.

Ingredients

  • Ziti Pasta
  • Italian Sausage
  • Marinara Sauce
  • Ricotta Cheese
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

1. 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the ziti pasta according to the package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside.

2. 2. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the Italian sausage over medium-high heat, breaking it up into small crumbles as it browns. Drain any excess fat from the pan.

3. 3. Add the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning to the cooked sausage and let simmer for about 5 minutes.

4. 4. In a large mixing bowl, toss the cooked ziti pasta with the sausage-marinara mixture and fold in the ricotta cheese.

5. 5. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and layer the ziti mixture, topping with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers, ending with cheese on top.

6. 6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

7. 7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

8. 8. Let cool for a few minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

This dish pairs beautifully with a fresh green salad, roasted vegetables, or crusty garlic bread.

Wine Pairings: Chianti, Montepulciano, or Sangiovese work well with this dish.
