Description

Spicy, cheesy, and oh-so-delicious, the Buffalo Chicken Calzone is a beloved twist on traditional pizza night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup ranch or blue cheese dressing
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • All-purpose flour (for dusting)

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven: To 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly dust with flour.

2. Prepare Filling: In a bowl, mix shredded chicken with buffalo wing sauce until evenly coated. Stir in mozzarella cheese, dressing, and green onions if using.

3. Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll pizza dough into a large oval or circle about ¼ inch thick.

4. Fill and Fold: Spoon the buffalo chicken mixture onto one half of the dough, leaving a 1-inch edge. Fold the other half over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.

5. Egg Wash: Brush the top of the calzone with beaten egg for a golden crust.

6. Bake: Place the calzone on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

7. Cool and Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping!

Notes

For a healthier twist, you can experiment with using low-fat mozzarella, Greek yogurt-based dressing, and adding extra veggies like diced celery or carrots to the filling.

Leftover Buffalo Chicken Calzone can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. When ready to reheat, simply place the calzone on a baking sheet and warm it in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.
