Description
Imagine taking the savory flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak and stuffing them into a pillowy-soft garlic bread loaf. That’s exactly what this Cheesesteak Stuffed Garlic Bread recipe delivers – a mouthwatering fusion of two beloved comfort foods.
Ingredients
- 1 large Italian bread loaf
- 1 pound thinly sliced beef (such as ribeye)
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 8 ounces provolone cheese, shredded
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil.
2. Slice the Italian bread loaf in half lengthwise, creating a top and bottom. Scoop out some of the bread from the center of each half.
3. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Sauté the minced garlic for 30 seconds, then add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add the thinly sliced beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until no longer pink, about 3-5 minutes.
4. Layer the shredded provolone cheese inside the hollowed-out bread halves, then spoon the cooked beef and vegetable mixture on top. Add extra cheese if desired.
5. Place the stuffed bread halves on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
Choose a large, sturdy Italian bread loaf for the best results.
Thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak works best for texture and flavor.
Enhance the garlic flavor by rubbing the inside of the bread with a cut garlic clove before assembly.
