Description

This Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes recipe takes a classic comfort food and gives it a garlicky, melty twist. Toasted Italian bread slathered in garlic butter is piled high with saucy ground beef, topped with gooey mozzarella, and baked to bubbly perfection. It’s a crave-worthy mashup perfect for weeknight dinners, game days, or whenever you want something cheesy and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf Italian bread

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 1/4 cup yellow onion, chopped

  • 1/2 cup ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prep: Set oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the Italian loaf in half lengthwise.

  • Make Garlic Bread: Mix butter and garlic salt. Spread evenly over both bread halves.

  • Toast Bread: Place on a baking sheet and bake for 6–8 minutes until golden.

  • Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onions until browned. Drain the fat.

  • Add Sauce: Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire, mustard, and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Assemble: Spoon sloppy joe mix onto toasted bread. Sprinkle mozzarella over the top.

  • Bake: Return to oven and bake for 5–7 minutes until the cheese melts and bubbles.

  • Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with parsley if using, slice into servings, and enjoy warm!

Notes

  • You can use French bread if Italian isn’t available.

  • Want it spicier? Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat mixture.

  • For extra crispness, broil the assembled loaf for 1-2 minutes after baking.

  • Swap in ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.

  • Leftovers can be wrapped in foil and reheated in the oven the next day.
