Description
Chicken Kiev is a beloved classic that has captivated the hearts and taste buds of food enthusiasts for generations. This iconic dish, with its crispy golden exterior and decadent garlic-herb butter oozing out with every bite, is a true celebration of indulgence.
Ingredients
- 8 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 1/2 tablespoon fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
- Avocado oil for frying
Instructions
1. Make the Garlic Herb Butter: In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until the mixture is smooth and well-incorporated. Shape the butter into a log, wrap it in plastic, and freeze until firm.
2. Prepare the Chicken: Start by pounding the chicken breasts to a 1/4-inch thickness, ensuring an even thickness for even cooking. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.
3. Stuff the Chicken: Slice the chilled garlic-herb butter into pieces and place a portion in the center of each chicken breast. Fold the sides of the chicken over the butter and roll it tightly to enclose the filling. Secure with toothpicks if needed.
4. Coat the Chicken: Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs. Dredge each chicken roll in the flour, then dip it in the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the breadcrumbs. For an extra crispy texture, you can repeat the egg and breadcrumb step.
5. Fry the Chicken: In a skillet over medium heat, heat a generous amount of avocado oil. Carefully add the breaded chicken rolls and fry them until they’re golden brown on all sides, about 5-6 minutes.
6. Bake to Perfection: Transfer the fried chicken to a baking sheet and bake it in a preheated 350°F oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
7. Serve and Enjoy: Carefully remove the toothpicks, if used, and slice the Chicken Kiev to reveal the gooey, flavorful garlic-herb butter center. Serve the chicken hot, garnished with fresh herbs or a squeeze of lemon.
Notes
Ensure that the butter is properly chilled before stuffing the chicken to prevent it from leaking out during cooking. Maintain the oil temperature between 350-375°F for crisp results.
