Ingredients
- All-purpose flour
- Granulated sugar
- Baking powder
- Ground cinnamon
- Unsalted butter
- Eggs
- Vanilla extract
- Brown sugar
- Chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and ground cinnamon.
3. Pour in the melted unsalted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until just combined.
4. Spread half of the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the packed brown sugar over the top, followed by the chopped nuts if using.
5. Gently spread the remaining batter over the brown sugar layer. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
6. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
Notes
These bars can be served warm, drizzled with icing or a dusting of powdered sugar.
