Description
Crockpot baked beans are the ultimate comfort food – a classic Southern side dish that simmers to perfection in the slow cooker. With just a few simple ingredients and minimal prep work, you can enjoy a hearty, flavorful batch of homemade baked beans that will have your family and friends coming back for more.
Ingredients
- 2 cans (15 ounce each) navy beans, drained
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped bacon
Instructions
1. To get these crockpot baked beans started, simply lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker or crockpot. Then, in the prepared crockpot, combine the drained navy beans, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, chopped onion, and chopped bacon. Stir everything together until the ingredients are well incorporated.
2. Once your crockpot baked beans are assembled, cover the crockpot and cook the beans on the low setting for 6-8 hours, or on the high setting for 3-4 hours. This long, slow cooking process allows the flavors to meld together and the beans to become beautifully tender.
3. When the crockpot baked beans are done, give them a final stir to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed. Serve the beans warm as a hearty side dish.
Notes
Any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. To reheat, simply place the beans in a saucepan and warm them over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through. You can also freeze the leftover crockpot baked beans for up to 3 months.
