Description
Crockpot Ham and Potato Casserole is a hearty, comforting dish that’s perfect for busy families. This slow-cooked casserole combines tender potatoes, savory ham, and a creamy cheese sauce for a satisfying meal that practically makes itself.
Ingredients
- 4 cup diced potatoes
- 2 cup cubed cooked ham
- 1 can (10.5 ounce) cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Start by peeling and dicing the potatoes into small cubes. Chop the onion and cube the cooked ham.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, milk, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well-blended.
3. Spray the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Layer the potatoes, ham, and onions in the crockpot. Pour the prepared sauce over the top and gently stir to ensure everything is coated.
4. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, or until the potatoes are fork-tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
5. Once the casserole is cooked, give it a good stir to incorporate all the flavors. Serve hot, topping with additional cheese or fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
To ensure the best results, avoid overcooking the casserole, as this can cause the potatoes to become mushy. Additionally, be sure to adjust the cooking time if you’re using a different size crockpot, as the ratio of ingredients to cooking vessel can affect the overall doneness.
