Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 can (10 ounce) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 package dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8 ounce cream cheese, cut into cubes and softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 3/4 cup French fried onions
  • 1 cup coarsely crushed Ritz crackers
  • 2 tablespoon melted butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and get ready to create a casserole that’s sure to impress!

2. First, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the trimmed and cut green beans and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until they’re tender but still crisp. Drain the beans and set them aside.

3. Next, cook the bacon in a large nonstick skillet until it’s crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and set it aside to cool, then crumble it into bite-sized pieces.

4. In the same skillet, whisk together the condensed cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, and milk until the mixture is smooth. Set the skillet over medium-low heat and let the sauce simmer, stirring occasionally, until it’s heated through and the cream cheese has melted in, creating a creamy, velvety texture.

5. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and transfer the cooked green beans to it. Pour the creamy sauce mixture over the top, making sure to evenly coat the beans. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar cheese over the casserole.

6. In a small bowl, combine the French fried onions, crushed Ritz crackers, and melted butter. Stir until the mixture is well combined, then sprinkle it evenly over the top of the casserole.

7. Bake the Decadent Cheesy Bacon Green Bean Casserole for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it’s hot throughout and the topping is golden brown and crispy. Serve this delightful dish warm, and get ready for rave reviews from your family and guests!
