Description

Easy Crockpot Chicken Thighs with Creamy Gravy is a simple, fuss-free recipe that delivers big on flavor. This dish lets your slow cooker do the work, resulting in tender, juicy chicken and a rich, velvety gravy that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 pieces bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for browning)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Season the chicken thighs with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika on both sides.

2. Optional: Brown the chicken thighs in a skillet with olive oil over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes skin-side down, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes before transferring to the slow cooker.

3. Place chopped onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the crockpot. Arrange seasoned chicken thighs on top and pour chicken broth over them.

4. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until chicken is tender.

5. About 30 minutes before serving, remove chicken thighs and whisk together flour and heavy cream in a small bowl until smooth. Pour into the crockpot and stir well. Add Dijon mustard if using. Cover and cook on high for 20-30 minutes until gravy thickens.

6. Return chicken thighs to the crockpot, spoon gravy over them, and warm through for another 5 minutes before serving hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

For a lighter gravy, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream. For gluten-free, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.
