Instructions
-
Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract. Knead the dough until smooth, then cover and let rise for 1 hour.
-
Make the Filling: Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
-
Roll & Fill: Roll the dough into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread the cinnamon mixture evenly over the dough and sprinkle with mini chocolate chips, if using.
-
Shape the Rolls: Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice it into 12 equal rolls. Place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
-
Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and fluffy.
-
Make the Frosting: Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
-
Frost & Serve: Spread the frosting over warm cinnamon rolls and enjoy!
Notes
-
For softer rolls, place a dish of hot water in the oven while baking to create steam.
-
Want extra gooeyness? Pour warm heavy cream over the rolls before baking.
-
Make-ahead tip: Prep the rolls the night before, cover them tightly, and refrigerate. Let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
