Holiday Cranberry Orange Meatballs are a festive dish combining savory spices, juicy ground meat, and the flavors of cranberry and orange.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 cup cranberry sauce (whole berry or jellied)
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, orange juice, garlic, onion, egg, salt, pepper, thyme, and oregano. Mix until well-incorporated.
3. Shape the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
4. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through.
5. Prepare the sauce by combining cranberry sauce, orange zest, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard in a saucepan. Heat until warm and fully combined.
6. Once cooked, toss meatballs in the cranberry orange sauce until evenly coated.
7. Serve warm as an appetizer or main dish.
Notes
These meatballs can be served with toothpicks as an appetizer or over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta for a main dish. Garnish with fresh thyme sprigs or parsley.
