Description

Homemade Hamburger Helper is a creamy, cheesy, and satisfying one-pot meal made with ground beef, pasta, and flavorful seasonings. It’s the perfect weeknight dinner that combines simplicity and comfort in just 30 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

Instructions

  • Cook Beef & Vegetables: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

  • Add Pasta & Liquids: Stir in the elbow macaroni, beef broth, and milk. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Let cook until the pasta is tender, around 8–10 minutes.

  • Season & Stir: Stir in paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, mustard powder, and tomato paste, ensuring everything is well mixed.

  • Melt Cheese: Once the pasta is cooked and the liquid has absorbed, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted and creamy.

  • Serve: Serve hot and enjoy this comforting homemade meal!

Notes

  • Feel free to add some veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.

  • For a spicier version, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
