Delicious and Comforting Korean Beef Noodles
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef chuck
- 1 quart beef broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoon gochujang
- 8 ounce udon or ramen noodles
- Garnishes: sliced green onions, sesame seeds, fresh cilantro
Instructions
1. Brown the Beef: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef chuck pieces and brown them on all sides.
2. Add the Aromatics: Stir in the minced ginger and garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
3. Build the Broth: Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, and gochujang. Stir to combine.
4. Simmer to Perfection: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 1.5 to 2 hours.
5. Cook the Noodles: Prepare the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
6. Assemble the Dish: Remove the beef from the broth and adjust seasoning if needed.
7. Serve and Enjoy: Place noodles in bowls, top with beef, and ladle broth over. Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and cilantro.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free noodles and tamari instead of soy sauce.
