Ideal for any dessert lover, these brownies are easy to make and perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 package (3 ½ cups) miniature marshmallows

For the Icing:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder
  • ⅓ cup whole milk
  • Generous ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

  2. Make the Brownie Batter:
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth. Stir in the flour, baking powder, salt, eggs, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until fully combined.

  3. Bake the Brownies:
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  4. Add the Marshmallows:
While the brownies are still hot, sprinkle the miniature marshmallows evenly over the top. Return to the oven for 5-7 minutes or until the marshmallows puff up and become golden brown. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.

  5. Make the Icing:
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the cocoa powder and milk and bring to a gentle simmer. Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.

  6. Frost the Brownies:
Pour the icing over the cooled brownies and marshmallows. Spread evenly with a spatula.

  7. Cool and Serve:
Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares. Enjoy the delicious combination of chocolatey goodness and gooey marshmallows!

Notes

  • You can store the brownies in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • For a richer flavor, consider using dark cocoa powder for the brownie batter.
  • Feel free to add extra toppings like chocolate chips or crushed nuts for some crunch.
