  • Author: Sofia Rojas
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick, flavor-packed dinner that transports your taste buds to the heart of Mongolia with savory, sweet, and umami notes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package instant ramen noodles
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken or beef broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (to taste)
  • 2 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1/4 cup scallions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

1. Cook the ramen according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.

2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, warm the vegetable oil. Toss the sliced beef with cornstarch until evenly coated, then sear the beef for about 2 minutes per side until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.

3. Reduce the heat slightly and add the toasted sesame oil to the skillet. Sauté the garlic and ginger for about 1 minute, until fragrant. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, and broth, then bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the sauce just begins to thicken.

4. Add the broccoli and carrots to the skillet, cover, and steam the vegetables until they are tender-crisp, about 5 minutes.

5. Return the seared beef to the skillet, then add the drained ramen noodles and sliced scallions. Toss everything together, ensuring the sauce coats the noodles, beef, and vegetables evenly.

6. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and serve immediately.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, swap beef for firm tofu or a plant-based meat alternative.

Try different proteins like chicken, pork, or shrimp for variations.

Mix in other fresh vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for added nutrition.
