Description
Oven-baked cabbage burgers offer a delicious and nutritious twist on a classic dish. By swapping out the traditional bun for tender cabbage slices and using lean ground beef, you can enjoy all the flavors of a burger without the guilt. With the added benefits of cabbage’s nutrient-packed profile, these burgers are a fantastic way to incorporate more vegetables into your diet while satisfying your cravings.
Ingredients
- 1 head green cabbage, cut into 1-inch slices
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
2. Arrange the cabbage slices on the prepared sheet pan, brush them with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 10 minutes to get the cabbage lightly roasted and tender.
3. In a bowl, combine the ground beef with the chopped onion, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix the ingredients thoroughly to evenly distribute the seasonings.
4. Remove the sheet pan from the oven. Place a mound of the beef mixture onto each cabbage slice and press it into a patty shape. Spread a small amount of mayonnaise and Dijon mustard over each patty, then top with the shredded cheddar cheese.
5. Return the sheet pan to the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6. Let the oven-baked cabbage burgers rest for 5 minutes, then serve them hot and enjoy!
