  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 3 cup frozen tater tots
  • 1 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.

2. Cook the ground beef and diced onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned, about 7 to 8 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, then drain excess fat.

3. Stir in salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and pizza sauce. Mix well and let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.

4. Spread the beef mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the meat, then arrange half of the pepperoni slices on top. Cover with a single layer of frozen tater tots.

5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until tater tots are golden and crispy. Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining 1 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and remaining pepperoni slices on top, and bake for 5 more minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
