Description

Steak and Shrimp Stir-Fry: A Quick and Flavorful Weeknight Delight

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 pound steak, sliced thin
  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup snap peas
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Start by slicing the steak thinly against the grain and seasoning it with salt and pepper. Peel and devein the shrimp, then pat them dry with paper towels.

2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create a flavorful stir-fry sauce. Set this aside for later.

3. Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat and add a drizzle of oil. Sear the steak for 1-2 minutes per side, just until it’s browned and cooked through. Remove the steak from the pan and set it aside.

4. Toss the shrimp into the hot pan and cook for 2-3 minutes, until they turn pink and curl slightly. Transfer the shrimp to the plate with the steak.

5. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the wok and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until they’re just tender but still crisp. Toss in the snap peas and cook for 1 more minute.

6. Return the seared steak and cooked shrimp to the pan, then pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the top. Toss everything together for about 2 minutes, ensuring the ingredients are well coated and heated through.

7. Transfer the Steak and Shrimp Stir-Fry to a serving plate and sprinkle with the toasted sesame seeds. For an extra touch of freshness, you can also add some chopped green onions.

Notes

To ensure your Steak and Shrimp Stir-Fry turns out perfectly every time, keep these tips in mind:

– Choose the right pan: A wok or large skillet with high sides works best for stir-frying, as it allows you to toss the ingredients easily.

– Maintain high heat: Stir-frying requires high heat to quickly sear the proteins and vegetables, so don’t be afraid to crank up the temperature.

– Cut ingredients evenly: Slice the steak and chop the vegetables into uniform pieces to ensure even cooking.

– Add ingredients in the right order: Start with the proteins, then add the vegetables from firmest to most delicate, and finally the sauce.
