  • 1 1/2 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 medium onion, sliced thin
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix or 2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

1. Season the chicken thighs with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

2. Heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for about 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through, then transfer it to a plate.

3. Add the remaining butter and sliced onion to the skillet. Cook the onion until it’s soft and lightly browned, then stir in the minced garlic for 30 seconds.

4. Pour in the chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Stir in the sour cream and onion soup mix (or onion powder) until the sauce is smooth and heated through.

5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and spoon the creamy sour cream and onion sauce over the top. Simmer the dish gently for 2 to 3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives before serving the Sour Cream and Onion Chicken warm.
