Description

Thai Basil Chicken is a beloved dish that showcases the vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine. This quick and easy stir-fry features tender chicken cooked in a savory sauce, infused with the aromatic fragrance of fresh Thai basil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Thai chilies, to taste
  • 1 shallot, sliced
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves

Instructions

1. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and chicken broth.

2. Cook the Aromatics: Heat the oil in a wok or skillet over high heat. Add the garlic, chilies, and shallot, and stir-fry for 30 to 60 seconds until fragrant.

3. Cook the Chicken: Add the ground chicken and break it apart as it cooks. Stir-fry for 2 to 4 minutes until no longer pink.

4. Add the Sauce: Pour in the sauce and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until it slightly thickens and coats the chicken.

5. Finish: Stir in the Thai basil leaves and cook just until wilted.

6. Serve: Spoon the Thai Basil Chicken over cooked jasmine rice and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Adjust the spice level by adding more or fewer Thai chilies or red pepper flakes to suit your taste preferences.

Use fresh Thai basil for the best flavor, as dried basil will not provide the same aromatic impact.

Store any leftover Thai Basil Chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat gently in a skillet or the microwave, being careful not to overcook the chicken.

This dish lends itself well to meal prepping. Cook a larger batch and portion it out for easy lunches or dinners throughout the week.
